anecdotes... (9.29.2005)

Ang mga Pinoys talaga....

Aside from my preschool stint here in Taiwan, I also try to squeeze in some part-time tutorial jobs. One time meron akong nakasabay na group of Pinoys in a bus nung papunta ako sa house ng student ko. Although they could've seated right next to each other, they opted to sit at different sections of the bus... meron sa harap, sa gitna at sa likod. They were really really loud... kwentuhan to the max, alaskahan at lait sa ibang passengers... ako naman quiet lang ako... trying not to listen in their conversation... anyway, my stop was nearing so i rang the bell, i stood up and walked slowly towards the exit... bigla nalang sumigaw yung isang pinoy who was seated at the back ng "Pare, bababa o. Gulatin mo!" Syempre alam ko ako yung target kasi ako lang naman yung naglalakad sa aisle. Kaya when i reached the guy in front tiningnan ko siya... pero di galit ah kasi i find that situation really amusing... tapos naka-smile ako... kaya ayun sabi nung guy in front to the guy seated at the back, "Nakakaintindi ata pare," to which I casually replied, "OO noh, taga-Pilipinas din kasi ako...." sabay baba sa bus.

During the mooncake festival (September 18, 2005) I treated my housemate, achie Luz, for dinner.... to celebrate my birthday and yung sa mooncake na din... di kasi kami nag-barbeque that night, which apparently is what they (the Taiwanese) do to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival. Anyway, while I was waiting in line to pay for our meal I overheard two Pinays talking... syempre di ko naman talaga ugali na maging snoop pero malakas yung boses nila eh... kasi they assumed that even if I overhear them I wouldn't understand a word..

Sabi nung isa, "Tingnan mo oh, mataba din siya..." kasi yung place is sort of an "eat all you can" resto, you just order your main course and the rest (salad bar, side dish bar, dessert bar and beverage bar) are consume all you want na so I'm assuming na kaya sinabi nung isang pinay yung statement na yun eh para ma-convince yung other pinay na kumain dun... mataba din kasi yung isa.... at alam ko na ako yung tinutukoy nila kasi ako lang naman yung mataba na nakapila dun... tapos dinagdag pa nung payat na girl "kaso mas matangkad sya sa iyo." The fat Pinay looked at me assessingly from head to foot then told her friend, "Mas maganda naman ako dyan!" Well, I just smiled at them not letting them know that I understood every word they just said. Si achie Luz naman di narinig yung nangyari, sinabi ko lang pag labas namin... grabe, gusto ba naman bumalik sa loob para pagsabihan yung dalawa... sabi ko wag na... why do you ask? here are my reasons...

  1. I was in a very good mood that day... kasi nag-ce-celebrate nga kami so happy, positive thoughts lang.
  2. I rarely take insults seriously, especially when its about my weight. I've accepted the fact that I was born fat and I'd probably die fat. I love myself... bilbil and all....
  3. Malabo man ang mata ko eh di naman ako bulag noh... so alam ko na mas maganda TALAGA ako dun sa matabang pinay... have i mentioned that i love myself?!?
  4. If insulting me would help increase your self-confidence/self-esteem eh di oks lang sa akin... i'm a helpful person by nature...
  5. I hate confrontations, negative emotions and rude people... so as much as possible I try to avoid them... or show restraint... patience is a virtue....
  6. medyo delayed reaction ako most of the time... halos madalas talaga yung mga kasama ko yung nag-re-react for me... so hinahayaan ko na lang sila... biro mo naman... nabigyan na nga ng MILA as a code name nung high school eh after 10 years.... 10 long years.... tsaka ko lang na-realize na super bad pala yon!
