for my 28th birthday, i've decided to cook for my friends... medyo matagal na din ako di nakakaluto... palagi na lang bread, fruits and coffee ang kinakain ko... kaya ayun... busy-busihan ako sa pag-plan ng aking menu... kala mo hundreds ang guest ko... but in actuality eh 3 1/8 lang sila.... sympre, nandyan si michelle (ang aking housemate), the savvy sisters gina and jennifer, at si pong pagong....
so after careful planning, this is what i've ended up preparing for my friends...
THE APPETIZER.... fresh greens, fresh apple, fresh cucumber, fresh corn with fresh ranch dressing... sympre kailangan i-emphasize ang salitang "fresh" kasi 28 is not old... i still look fresh and young noh!!! grabe... defensive!!!! greens: your favorite fresh fruits and vegetables... for the ranch dressing: plain yogurt (drained), fresh minced garlic, italian seasoning, salt and pepper to taste and my secret ingredient!!!
THE BREAD... garlic bread and ham & onion bread... for a bread person like me eh pwede ba naman mawala ang bread... kaya umisip talaga ako ng paraan para maisiksik ang bread sa aking menu... garlic bread para universal ang appeal...at sympre my addiction to bread didn't go unnoticed to my friends.. kaya si gina bumili ng ham & onion bread for "just in case....." for the garlic bread: sliced french baguette, butter, minced garlic and some fresh herbs
THE PASTA.... ang aming birthday staple sa bahay tuwing may mag-bi-birthday... ang spaghetting hubad.... naisisp ko kasi na kahit man lang sa luto ko eh i'll be able to present something "hubad" na hindi isusumpa at isusuka ng aking mga friends... eh sympre kasi pag ako mismo yung lalabas ng naka "birthday suit" lang eh baka magsipag-takbuhan ang mga bisita ko... siguro nga nakaramdam si Jules na maghahanda ako ng something "hubad" kaya binilisan na nya ang pag-uwi sa manila para ma-avoid nya itong surprise ko!!! kidding aside... the "spaghetting hubad" is just a pasta dish without the usual meat sauce... its just noodles with olive oil, garlic, onions, basil and sausage... hence the name "hubad"
THE FINGER.... chicken finger that is!!! Chicken fingers with a hint of lemon... dipped in Taiwan-style barbecue sauce and ranch dressing.....sige na.. nandaya na ako... i didn't cook everything from scratch kasi i bought the chicken fingers from costco... sa picture kasi dun sa packaging eh it really looks yummy... at yung barbecue sauce... kaya yan taiwan-style kasi wala sa grocery yung kraft or hunts... yung meron lang lee kum kee kaya ayun.. instead na mag-ala buffalo wings from don henrico's yung sauce eh naging intsik-style sya!!!
THE BOOZE... vodka cocktail... sympre... because of my booze-loving friend na itatago natin sa pangalang Jerry... eh natutunan ko kung paano mag mix ng ganitong klaseng drink... just mix together some vodka, sprite and grenadine syrup
THE DESSERT... like what michelle said... what's a birthday without a birthday cake... and not just one but two.... black forest cake from michelle and the healthy cranberry cake from gina...
